HVE Sample Prototypes
Standard-library Python exercises with synthetic data. Run commands from the relevant sample folder. No packages or cloud resources are required. These commands test sample behavior, not Copilot/HVE availability.
Coding Samples

python3 checks.py instructor_solution.pyThe starter intentionally fails acceptance checks. The instructor reference should pass. Preserve the starter, then give learners a copy to edit. Checks may be used as feedback; they are not a substitute for reasoning about the requirements.
Distribution
For learners, distribute starter.py, checks.py, the sample brief, and claims.csv where present. Exclude instructor_solution.py and evidence-review/instructor-key.md. Do not share this whole source folder as the learner package. The instructor should rehearse distribution and reset before a cohort.
Instructor Rehearsal
Run checks against both starter and reference. Inspect the implementation and test contract. Rehearse the HVE phase entry points separately in the chosen host, and record exact versions. Timings and Copilot/HVE integration are untested.
Local Verification — 2026-11-03
Both instructor solutions passed their acceptance checks on Python 3.9.6. Both starters failed as expected. This verifies the local exercise implementations only; HVE/Copilot execution, clean learner setup, and estimated timings remain untested.
